There’s an app for that.

Posted on August 3, 2010

Years ago, I purchased this plastic toy camera from Amazon for around $20 bucks.  I loved this thing, even though we were already on digital camera number two at the time and it was quite a hassle to use.  First, I had to go out of my way to find medium format film for it and I still remember asking the very helpful guys at Houston Camera Exchange how to load it.  The roll would only have 12 exposures and I could only get it developed at the one place I found in town.  Even then, I couldn’t afford get actual prints, only a proof sheet and negatives – I got my hubby to use a negative scanner at his office instead.  Now it sits on my shelf collecting dust.  I just don’t have the time, energy or money to put into using my $20 plastic cam.

But wouldn’t you know it… there’s an app for that!  I just loooove the Hipstamatic app on the iPhone!  Have you tried it?  If not, I can’t recommend it enough, it is so stinkin’ fun.

Here are some oldies from a trip to The Keys back in 2003 taken with the Holga.

That little guy looks like Adam, I know.  But it’s my baby Nate and he is now seven!

And here are some favs of mine taken with various lenses from the Hipstamatic app.

Talk about instant gratification ;)

Just Perfect • Houston Newborn Photographer

Posted on July 17, 2010

If I could, I would finish up and post all the photos from this morning’s session right now, I love them so much.  But here are just a few for her mom.  I know she’s just as excited about them as I am!

I just can’t believe how good she slept with all the moving around we did.  She was so good and I was enjoying photographing her so much that for a little while today, I totally lost track of time.  Congrats, M + R!  She’s perfect!

P.S.

Totally worth the speeding ticket I got on the way over there! Ha!

This family is now complete!

During our session, I was holding their new little one while mom got the boys ready.  While I cuddled with him I told her how much I love this part of what I do.  So she picked up my camera and snapped a rare one of me and Baby J3.

Shooting Baby J’s newborn session is truly special to me.  You see, I also had the honor of being there to photograph his birth.  And… it was amazing!  His mother was incredible!  It was her first all natural birth and I was so shocked because after witnessing this miracle, I thought for sure she had done this twice before.  She made it look so incredibly easy and, well, natural.

Happy three weeks, Baby J!

Brothers, J + J • Houston Baby Photographer

Posted on July 6, 2010

Shot indoors on a very wet and stormy day, the sweetest two-month old ever and his adorable 20-month old big brother:

Why, hello cutie!

Can you believe those lashes?

And I totally wore out his baby brother trying to get a shot of these two together.

Oh, that yawn was good! He’s all smiles now.

We did (amazingly!) manage to get a couple of them together, but I’m saving those for mom!
