Today is my BFF’s birthday! That’s right, my hubby, my best friend forever turned thirty-four today. It’s been a long week with the kids taking a break from their summer activities and we could have really used a night out. But our poor baby boy has not been feeling well so instead, we kept it low key by having a quick bite to eat at our new favorite place, Smash Burger, then a leisurely stroll at our other favorite place. You may have heard of it, it’s called Target? Yes, that place is da bomb!

We headed home and whipped up a batch of brownies (and by batch, I mean the 45 sec microwavable kind) that the kids picked up from our leisurely stroll and this folks, this is how we do THIRTY-FOUR.

Happy, happy birthday to the love of my life, Alan! You are amazing, more than I could have ever hoped for in a husband and best friend.

This past week, my hubby and I celebrated nine fabulous happy years of wedded bliss. We hit up our favorite park again and took in a spectacular view of the city from their “holiday” balloon (it looks like a hot air balloon, but totally missing all the hot air). It was super cold and super windy and would have been super romantic had it not been for the very vocal kid riding with us asking her dad about a hundred questions about the possibilities of falling off. Ah, children!! If we weren’t parents of a school-ager ourselves, that may have been annoying. Instead, the entire time, A and I were chuckling and thinking about what Nate would probably ask if he were riding with us!

And can I just say how glad I am we choose to do this BEFORE we ate? It was sooo windy. Wine, food and then a balloon ride would not have worked out so hot.

Happy Happy Anniversary, to my sweet and amazing hubby. I love you!

I am almost four months old and my mommy, well, she totally doesn’t blog about me enough! Maybe it’s because I need to be held all the time and she hasn’t quite mastered doing everything with me in her arms squirming around? Well, whatever. How cute am I?

Has it really been almost two months?!

Okay, so I’m slightly behind on the blogging but this past holiday season was hectic! Fun, but definitely a little hectic. Now where was I?

Can you believe this was Houston last month?

Well, at least for one day. I snapped this on the way home from my daughter’s 4th birthday soiree. And by soiree, I really mean last minute play date.

What a birthday treat! I could hardly function that day. Snow is magical, people!!

Pre-Par-Tay!

It’s been a busy, busy week and it looks like its going to be a busy, busy entire month. But it’s December, so what’s new? Despite a minor setback yesterday with me and my infant sick and in bed for the entire day, we trudge on. First up on the list of things to do, as always, is edit, edit, edit! That’s never ending. So let’s take a break here and blog about my baby girl’s birthday. She’s THREE!!!

We started the celebration by going ice skating (like last year) the day before her birthday.

As you can see, she is wearing the same coat as last year. I find that when you live in Houston and wear coats about 3 days out of the entire winter season, it’s most economical to buy your children’s coats a size large so the can actually get some good use out of it. Am I right, Houstonians?!?

Nate was so excited about skating he did a little jig before we started.

We choose to do this on a weeknight so that we could have the rink practically all to ourselves.

Like last year, the night was magical. I just love Discovery Green!!!

Saving her actual birthday celebration post for tomorrow. Like the title says, this was just the pre-par-tay!
